Commitment to Protect your Privacy

Pym’s Technology Lawyers and Contract Managers Pty Ltd (PTL) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. Our Privacy Policy explains how and why we collect personal information, what we use it for, and to whom and when we disclose it. We update our policy from time to time, and you should revisit our website regularly to see the latest copy of the Privacy Policy. Any changes will come into effect when the updated Privacy Policy is posted to the website. In all cases we will treat your personal information with no less protection than that provided for by the National Privacy Principles and the privacy laws that are in force in Australia.

What is Personal Information?

Personal information is any information from which an individual’s identity can reasonably be determined. This would include details of an individual’s name, address, phone number, email address and facsimile number.

How we collect Personal Information?

We collect information from you via our website, from telephone calls or meetings, or through written communications between us. We also may collect information from other parties, including our associated law firms, Counsel, agents and other organisations with which we have a business relationship. Some of the information that we seek is essential for us to be able to provide our products and services and some is additional information that you choose to provide us with. If it is practical, and providing it is lawful, we will endeavour to give you the option of not identifying yourself or not providing personal information when we enter into transactions with you. We will identify which information is essential for us to provide you with our products and services, and if you choose not to give it to us, (which you are entitled to do), we will not be able to provide the products and services. We may collect information from you by means of recording conversations or video surveillance.

Why we collect Personal Information and what is it used for?

We collect and use personal information for any of the following purposes:

  • To enable us to provide the products and services;
  • To enable any of the providers of the products or services, e.g. other lawyers, including Counsel, consultants or organisations with whom we are working to provide products or services to you (including any third parties who are administering those arrangements) etc, to provide the products and services that are available through Pym’s Technology Lawyers or any organisation that we have entered an arrangement with as your agent;
  • To provide newsletters, notices of events or developments in the law or industry that we think may be useful to you;
  • For security and risk management purposes;
  • To provide to your clients, and their advisers, where it is necessary to do so to expedite the provision of the products or services to you, providing you have given us your express or implied consent to do so;
  • To enable us to provide you with information about, and offer you, additional products and services;
  • To provide to third parties to enable them to give you information about, and offer you, products and services;
  • To enable us to improve the quality of our products and services and to develop additional products and services, and for staff training and quality assurance purposes;
  • For administrative purposes, including billing and payment services as well as allowing our technical support technicians to assist in any technical difficulties that may arise through any electronic communication or interaction with you, and provide assistance to you if needed;
  • To supply credit related services such as creditworthiness, whether credit has been provided and credit ratings;
  • Where a third party has an interest in acquiring part or all of PTL, or providing any form of financial accommodation to PTL;
  • To improve the quality and quantity of information on our website.

Where information is provided to any person or organisation other than PTL you accept that that person or organisation may not have privacy policies that are as protective as our Privacy Policies, and you consent to the disclosure of your personal information with that understanding. You may opt-out of receipt of any such offers at any time simply by submitting a request via our feedback form or in any way that we notify you in the relevant communication.

To whom do we disclose the Personal Information?

We only disclose personal information to:

  • Our directors, employees and contractors, and directors, employees and contractors of any of our group companies;
  • Other persons and organisations, only for a purpose that is consistent with the way we have informed you that we will use the information in this Privacy Policy.

We may also disclose personal information to any person or authority where we are required to by law. As a number of the people and organisations that work to provide you with products, services or information are outside of Australia, your personal information may be disclosed to those overseas people and organisations. Where information is provided to any overseas organisation you accept they may not have privacy policies that are as protective as our Privacy Policy, and they may be located in countries that do not have any, or any adequate, privacy laws protecting personal information.
